Who we are

Arpa Flooring Design is a hardwood flooring contractor based at 1809 NJ-35, Oakhurst, NJ 07755, working throughout New York City and the New Jersey metro area. The company supplies, installs, sands and finishes hardwood — for entire buildings and for single rooms.

Between Empire and Arpa, our team has completed full-building installations at 50 buildings across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Jersey City, Hoboken, Westchester and Connecticut, working directly with general contractors, construction managers, architects and interior designers.

Why Arpa

Alex Oliveira and Henrique Gonçalves worked together for years under the name Empire. In 2025 they renamed the company Arpa — a name that belongs to no one else.

ARPA is their four children: Aylla, Ryan, Paola and Arthur.

The work did not change. Same partners, same crew, the same fifty buildings behind them. Only the name on the truck is new.

Founders

Alex Oliveira and Henrique Gonçalves founded the company. Alex runs estimating and project oversight, and was named to the Hardwood Floors Magazine 40 Under 40 by the National Wood Flooring Association.

How we work

We measure before we quote. Subfloor flatness and slab moisture are checked and written down at the estimate stage, not discovered halfway through, because that is where nearly every flooring dispute starts. Acclimation is tracked with a moisture meter rather than a calendar. Punch-list work is done by the crew that installed the floor.
